Episode 35: Renee Parrish Coe | Four weddings and no cake!
Monday Sep 23, 2019
Monday Sep 23, 2019
Four weddings and no cake! My guest today is my sister Renee Coe. I asked her to come onto the show to share her life long addiction story. Renee has had a food addiction for the better part of 40 years. For years we nagged and poked her to find out what the reason was. For years she pushed me, her husband and children away continuing to bury the bottled up hurt, shame and anger in an attempt to make it go away. The reason for all this. Between the ages of 6 and 7 she was repeatedly abused at the hands of an older cousin. Feeling ashamed, dirty and helpless, she turned to food, the one thing she could control. She told no one until a short 4 years ago and has been on the recovery roller coaster since. Sit back, hang on and be inspired by her new determination to rise above this pattern of perpetual self destruction. Follow her story on the following social media platforms: Facebook and Instagram Give her a shout out and some encouragement. She is losing the weight and planning to never find it again.

You know what “they” say right? I’ve always wondered who this invisible Committee of They was and who gave them the authority to tell the rest of us what we should or should not do. #CommitteeOfThey #SecretCommitteeOfThey

My guest today is Matt Imus, a high school friend of about 35 years. On May 5, 2019 his 17 year-old son Connor drowned while attempting to save his dog who ended up in a canal in their western Colorado town of Montrose. Connor was truly an angel to his parents, siblings and community. Matt shares with me the heart-wrenching story no parent ever wants to share. Losing a child. Connor was every parent's dream. Excelled in sports, academics. Obedient and most of all a kind-hearted Christ-like young man whose dreams were cut short but whose impact on the world will be felt forever. To learn more about Connor visit ForeverMissed.com or to donate to a scholarship fund set up for youth please visit the GoFundMe page. Connor's funeral was filmed. If you'd like to see it click here.

My guest today is once again, J. Marvin Pratt. We were at the top of West Mountain in Utah County, Utah. We did a little spin off Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee as we descended on a rough dirt road so enjoy, the road noise, rattling and panting dog.

One year ago, 16 year-old Chaicee Hendren was a typical American teen-ager. Rebellious for rebellion's sake. A little too interested in boys for her parents comfort. Addicted to her cell phone. A class act, sweet, kind pain in the butt. A diagnosis of B cell Acute Lymphocytic leukemia started her on a path that changed her life...in so many ways, for the better. Sit back while Chaicee and her father Josh Hendren take us on their journey.
